Preview night - Spring / Summer Collection 2010 We held our preview night for the latest collection on Friday 12th March. The new colours of peach, mint, wheat, fuscia and bluebell have been proving popular, with beautiful new styles in the comfortable fabric mixes of cotton and silk. Sale! We currently have a sale with 50% discount on all of our clothes, scarves and necklaces, including summer shoes for only £5 - come in and find yourself a bargain before they all go! Children's Handwriting Competition In conjunction with The Writing Desk Saffron Walden, The Earth Collection held a children's handwriting competition over the school summer holidays, and invited all local schools to take part. We asked children to write one side of A4 in their best handwriting, with something of their choice - a passage of their favourite book or poem, or something that they had made up themselves. In each age category, we adopted an animal at Colchester Zoo for the winner, a prize which included eight complimentary tickets to the Zoo, a personalised plaque on the animal's enclosure, and a photograph and information on the animal. The second prize was a wonderful stationery set for the runners up to continue their good work. Entries were judged by two award-winning local authors from the Walden Writers group, Clare Mulley and Amy Corzine. We were very pleased with the number of children who took part, and with the quality of the handwriting - everyone had taken the competition very seriously. In the age 4-7 category, the winner was Sophie Ollerenshaw, aged 7, and the runner up was her sister Tilly, aged 6. Both attend Dame Bradbury's School in Saffron Walden. In the age 8-11 category, the winner was Eliza Parry Williams, aged 9, from Rickling Church of England Primary School, and the runner up was Claudia Goodman, aged 8, from Dame Bradbury's. Sophie chose a Goeldi's Monkey to be adopted as her prize, and Eliza chose a Columbian Black Spider Monkey. We will be repeating this competition next summer, and are hoping to receive even more entries than this year! Preview night - Autumn/Winter Collection 2009 We held a preview night on Friday 6th October 2009 for the latest autumn/winter collection, showing the striking new colours of berry, lime and mandarin. Cosy jumpers in cotton/wool mixes and gorgeous scarves will keep you warm this winter! We have a great selection of styles and fabrics, and look forward to showing them to you.
Fashion show - 1st April 2009 On April 1st we took part in a fashion show which was organised by the Lionness Club of Saffron Walden, in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. We had 11 models, including three children and a baby, and modelled the new spring summer collection. This was the first fashion show that we have participated in, and it was very successful! As well as introducing many more people to our clothes and our concept, we were pleased that the evening raised lots of money for a very worthwhile charity. The latest colours are marine, ocean, fresco and sky, and all have been proving popular. Now we are waiting for the glorious summer that we have been promised! Preview Night - Autumn/Winter Collection 2008 We held our preview evening for the 2008 autumn/winter collection on Friday 3rd August 2008, and again were pleased with the response from our loyal customers. The new colours of cayenne (orange) and fennel (dark green) have been very well received, and we feel that this is our best collection yet! The scarves have been especially popular in the following weeks, as well as the new fabric of 85% cotton with 15% wool. Preview Night - Spring/Summer Collection 2008 The new colours for this summer are mist and citonelle, which look lovely and fresh in the sunshine which we have been enjoying lately. Preview Night - Autumn/Winter Collection 2007 On Friday August 10th 2007 we held a preview evening for our autumn/winter collection, inviting our most loyal customers to come along and see the new range. We received fantastic feedback on the styles and colours - a response which has continued into the weeks that followed. We personally like the new collection and are pleased that there are many items suitable for formal wear (work, weddings, parties and graduations) as well as more casual pieces. We are also excited about the choices of cosy sweaters, cardigans, wraps and shrugs, perfect for the colder weather.
We opened our doors for the first time on March 2nd 2007, for a 'drinks and nibbles' celebration evening with invited guests (and all those who couldn’t resist coming in to say hello!). Guests were entertained by a wonderful harpist while they looked round the shop and had a first browse through the collection. We had so many positive comments, and it was a really great way to begin. |
